You know how when you live in a place with things to do but you never do whatever until friends or family come into town? Yea, believe it or not, Valencia is one of those towns. We have the first SoCal gold strike, the acres of orange orchards, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Castaic Lake & Dam, the oldest operating restaurant in LA county (Saugus Cafe), The Saugus Speedway, Saugus Swap Meet and the list goes on. See, not such a boring town after all.
Our good friends Matt and Ele came to visit and we wound up at Castaic Lake. I have seen Castaic Lake a number of times on TV as they do quite a bit of filming there but living so close, you never really think about going there (or at least I never did). Well, I have been cheating myself! The lake is just breathtaking. We wound our way around and finally ended up on the boat launch. This is no ordinary ramp. It’s massive, I mean, I’m pretty sure you could launch a submarine or destroyer from this ramp. I didn’t snap too many photos, but what I did have been posted over on our Flickr page (Link).
In short, explore your town no matter how ordinary or boring you think it is!

Before you ask, the wedding was AMAZING! Katie did such an amazing job planning and organizing such a huge event for nearly 150 guests… I can’t believe it all came together so swimmingly. For those that couldn’t make it, we had a team of 3 photographers and a videographer documenting every event from our getting dressed to us dancing like tired monkeys at the end of the evening. We have a few of our own photos, but they are still being put together. We should have all the footage & photos up for everyone in a few weeks and in the mean time, our photogs have posted up a mini slideshow for you to enjoy:

So you know how we moved back in October? Well, we’re moving again to escape the crime of Mnt Terrace. Between our cars getting broken into, Katie witnessing some harsh domestic violence and our front door being randomly tested by strangers… yea… we’re done.
We found a pretty nice little unit in Katie’s old apartment complex by Magic Mountain for $200 less a month than we are paying now for the exact same square footage PLUS a garage & parking space. On top of all that, they have a security patrol who actually… patrols! I know, shocking right? We were sold almost instantly.
When we notified Mnt. Terrace of the move, they didn’t seemed shocked at all. When we explained the reasoning, they were surprised (or at least acted that way). We told in detail what had happened and they really didn’t protest our move. The just started paperwork and that was about it. Kind of goes with the rest of our experience with the complex. Needless to say, we are glad to be getting out.
We have already began packing and getting all the services squared away. Move date is only 12 days away, so we are in a frenzy to get everything in order. This feels like one of the better moves we have made, and Katie is just beyond happy to going back, leaving Mnt Terrace in the dust.
