Josh and I took a babymoon on mothers day weekend to Disneyland. Now being that I’m uber pregnant I can’t go on most of the rides, but since Disneyland has been such a huge part of our lives it seemed like the perfect place to go on our last vacation together before the baby comes.
We were able to get a good deal on the amazing Grand Californian Hotel and Spa for two nights so we jumped in it. The hotel was amazing! It looks like a old timey wood lodge. Like something you would have stayed at in 1920 Adirondacks. And when we got into our room and realized it was designed around Snow White wishing well, which is where we got engaged, we could not have been happier.
Our first night there we met out with our amazing friend Mat and his girlfriend Kimberly and her daughter. Had a great date night with them in downtown Disney and then spent some time in the lodge just catching up.
The next day was our big picture tour of the park. Since most of our trips were always at night we wanted to take advantage of the daylight. I still feel bad that Josh didn’t go on any rides since I couldn’t, but he wouldn’t leave me…I love love love him for that. The walking led to lots of pain for me which meant lots of sitting down, but Josh was super understanding and protective about it. It made for an amazing trip…rides or not.
We also decided to do some shopping for Peewee. We didn’t know what the sex was yet so we just bought a few things we loved. Including two hats…one with our girls name and one with our boys name. Below are a couple of pictures of things we bought.
There is so much to say out this amazing trip and what it meant to us, but words cannot express how amazing this trip was. I am so lucky to have such an amazing husband and getting to spend those few days with him in a place that we spent so much time falling in love with each other was just a dream come true.
So, this is my third week of not being able to sleep past 4 hours. I’m not sure this would bother me if it was A. 4 hours of consecutive sleep and B. I felt in any way rested. I feel like I am a walking disaster. Because of the lack of sleep at night, I am napping during the day, so, I am either asleep or so tired I can’t function all day long. And yest I have tried keeping myself awake and not napping during the day so I would be super tired at night. Still doesn’t work.
This is not fun, AND I do not remember any body ever telling me that the sleepless nights started in my 2nd tri!!!! I knew I would get uncomfortable in my 3rd tri but 2nd? Thats just messed up!!!! Ok whining has ended (can you tell I’m tired?!).
While shopping with my mom the other day I found the most perfect diaper bag! I had been seing this particular brand pop up over a baby message board I’m on and fell in love with it awhile ago, but when I saw m Petunia Picklebottom bag in Nordstrom, I just new I needed it!
I will be the first one to admit that I don’t really know what it totally necessary in a diaper bag, but at least I will be cute while figuring it out!
We all know that Josh drinks the purple Kool-Aid over at Yahoo, and of course as he was shopping the company store he found baby onesies that say “My Daddy is a Yahoo”. He fell instantly in love.
So, a few weeks later while I was visiting him at work we decided to go to the store and pick up the beloved onesie. Ten minutes later we walked out with three. I love both my Yahoo’s.
After much research and debate we have finally decided on and purchased our carseat. We decided on the Chicco Key Fit carseat. I love it already.
Normally we wouldn’t have purchased anything so early, but we have too very rambunctious dogs who need to be weened and trained into the baby and all the gear that comes with. Besides its good to know that your carseat actually fits in your new car right?
So, the plan is to get a doll to put in the carseat so that the kids (aka Rexy and Belle) can get used to the sight of the seat and what goes in it. I’m not sure how much it will do since the doll clearly doesn’t make any noise, but I’m hoping that by getting used to at least some of the changes slowly they will do better when the baby actually comes.
Today my mom came in to town for a visit on her spring break. When I picked her up at the airport she had a huge checked bag and a carry-on bag. I didn’t think much about this until we went to check her into her hotel and she said “we don’t need to bother taking my bags up”. I soon realized that she had (in her effort to keep our secret until we were ready tell) shopped her way into Grandma oblivion.
When she got to our apartment she emptied out her bags resulting in a huge pile of wrapped presents for the baby. That night Josh and I opened all of onesies, socks, and blankets! It was very exciteing to finally start shopping and getting things for the baby, especially since we hadn’t gotten anything up until this point. Including some amazing Gap Baby’s First Denim that I’m in love with, and of course baby’s first Chucks.
So today Josh and I decided to look at new cars feeling like we needed more room for a car seat not to mention the impending snow. We ended up getting an amazing deal on a new Volkswagen Tiguan SUV!!!
So as my amazing husband was purchasing my new car for me the baby decided to let me feel it move FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!!!!
It’s such an amazing and strange feeling, but I’m sooooo excited to finally be able feel this little life inside me!
With the NT scan results, we have sent out the announcement to the family. The entire family! We posted on Pettitopia, on facebook and probably 10 other internet mediums. No real content… just a bookmark in our journey. Enjoy the below appropriate clip from probably one of the best “I Love Lucy” episodes.
So today we went in for what is called a Nuchal Translucency scan that measures all parts of the baby to make sure there aren’t any chromosomal or major birth defects. It was very stressful going in just because there are so many “what if’s” going on in your mind. So, after about a 15 minute ultrasound we went in to a room with a nurse who gave us a paper with our probability of any defects. She handed us a piece of paper that said “screen negative”. Josh and I both teared up for a second because for the first time we were actually able to breathe a sigh of relief and actually start appreciating our pregnancy. Below is one of the pics they gave us you will the the facial profile. I know I’m biased but that looks like a pretty cute nose to me!!!
Today Josh and I decided to go and take a look around Baby’s R’ Us and see what sort of things we needed/wanted for the baby. We spent a lot of time looking at the car seat we are in love with and the stroller that goes with it. Its by a company called Chicco and we are in love with it. Everything they make seems to have great safety ratings and today we actually played with the items to see how easy they were to use. We also really liked that the colors were gender neutral. We don’t know the sex of the baby as its too early, but even if we did we aren’t a big fan of all pink for girls and all blue for boys. I think the Orange and grey will be awesome for whatever our little monkey turns out to be.
After shopping Josh took me to PF Changs to help cure of the major cravings I have been having…lettuce wraps! They were soooooooooooo tasty! I am already ready for round two next time we are in that part of town. I’m afraid that lettuce wraps is a craving that me not go away!
All in all it was a great day with my amazing husband. I am so lucky that I have a husband who is just as excited as I am!
So normally I wouldn’t be happy about having to have a new OB, but when one moves to a new city its a must. I love this new doctor! Today I met with her nurse practitioner whom I adore. She is very funny and has a very similar personality as me so we got along great! Because I was new to the practice she had me go next door to the hospital to have an ultrasound, just so they had a more thorough one on file. The baby is officially starting to move around and is now floating on its umbilical cord. So while the ultrasound tech was trying to take measurements Monkey was having a field day dancing around. Every time she thought she was going to get a good one Monkey would dance a little jig and wave at mommy. All of this was making me laugh, which I’m sure wasn’t making anything easier.
So here is the new pic of Monkey at 11 weeks and 6 days. You will see the head on the right, the tush on the left and the two floating white circles are little hands.
We had another appointment today to basically double check the due date which is set at on or around October 2nd. We couldn’t be happier to have a little punkin for Halloween!
Every year Disneyland has a theme and this years theme is “What are you celebrating”. When you first walk into the park there is this huge bouquet of balloons with a sign that says “What are you Celebrating?”, so, we decided to get out picture taken pointing out what we are celebrating! Peewee’s first trip to Disneyland! We were even able to snag reservations at out favorite restaurant Blue Bayou were we have celebrated every big event in our relationship. We can’t wait till he or she is big enough to enjoy all the fun of Disneyland.
I went in for a doctors visit today and had an ultrasound where I got to see and hear the heartbeat! Its a very surreal experience to know there is a baby inside but it doesn’t feel like anything is different! Doesn’t quite look like a baby yet but we are in love all the same.
So for the last week or so I have been feeling kinda crappy and super tired for no apparent reason. So today I decided to take a pregnancy test and low and behold there were two pink lines! Being that I don’t trust the somewhat faint 2nd pink like I decided to run to target and get 5 more pregnancy tests and take them all. After the fifth one came up positive (with a very clear reading of “pregnant”) I decided to believe what I was seeing. Being SUPER excited I plotted how I was going to break the news to Josh.
I decided to not tell him over the phone as I really wanted to see his facial reaction. So, back to target I went to pick up the necessities, a onesie that said “I love Daddy” and a bib that said the same, also a big box and tissue paper. I went home wrapped everything up and waited for him to come home.
On his way home to me he called and we decided that he would come in the house to put his bag down and then we would go to Barnes and Noble to get some magazines for our trip to New York the next day. So when he got home I gave him his box to open. When he took the lid off there was a row of pregnancy tests lined up. He looked at them and then looked at me and asked me what they were. By the time he did his double take he figured it out and was beyond delighted! He grabbed me and hugged me and asked if it was really true and when I confirmed well….lets just say we were happy!
Its going to be a crazy ride with us moving two times this year and to the other side of the country, but we couldn’t be happier for this blessing and adventure!
